Dirty Keto in a Pitch (Best Fast Food Choices)

The bestlaid plans of mice and men often go awry. I try to avoid fast food as much as I can. The majority of fast food places use fillers of soy, wheat, and corn mixed in with the meat and the cheeses are usually not real. The meat usually comes from a concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) which means it is full of antibiotics and other things you really don’t want to put into your body. With that said, life happens and I do find myself needing a quick meal. The list below is what I try to stick to if I do eat fast food.

NOTE: Please do not think that you can eat fast food like this and be healthy. You might lose weight, but you will miss many micro-nutrients (like vitamins, minerals, and enzymes) as well as experience inflammation, bloating, and cravings from the hidden ingredients in fast food.

Chipotle

  • One of the few fast food places that try to use real ingredients
  • Get the Fajata Bowl with extra fajita veggies and guacamole. Be sure to avoid the rice, beans, & cheese.

In-N-Out (Use 100% Beef, No fillers)

  • Double-Double Cheeseburger – Order it Protein Style and it comes wrapped in lettuce
  • The Flying Dutchman not on the menu comes as just the meat and cheese with a fork. Make it Animal Style to have them add the sauce (Warning it has a few carbs)
  • Just a pattie or two

Carl’s Jr.

  • ThickBurger (LoCarb / Lettuce Wrap) 1/2 or 1/3 Pound
  • Famous Star (LoCarb / Lettuce Wrap) No Cheese
  • STAR – Grass Fed All Natural Burger (LoCarb / Lettuce Wrap)

Taco Bell

  • Mini Skillet Bowl with Eggs, Steak, 3 Cheese Blend, & Guacamole
  • Power Menu Bowl with Lettuce, Shredded Chicken or Steak, Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream, 2 x Guacamole & Bacon

Jimmy John’s

  • Lettuce Wrap – Go for the Tuna or Turkey – Go for Swiss Cheese
  • Deli Meat is garbage

Panera Bread

  • Green Goddess Cobb Salad x the meat (Dressing on the side)
  • Power Breakfast Bowl have them hold the sausage/chicken
  • Power Mediterranean Chicken Salad

Chick-fil-A

  • Grilled Chicken Nuggets

Five Guys

  • Order any burger as a Burger Bowl

Wendy’s

  • Order a Baconator & BLT Cobb Salad with the dressing and croutons on the side. Remove the chicken (Soy Chicken) and trash it and replace it with the meat from the Baconator
  • Lettuce Wrap Burger

McDonald’s

  • Just Avoid it – it is not really food for Keto
  • If it is your only choice; order something with an egg-like the Sausage Biscuit with Egg. Eat just the egg throw the rest away.
